RETHINK
POLITICS

The world has become increasingly less peaceful in recent years due to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the escalation of violence in the Middle East. The associated challenges were discussed on Friday, May 10 at AIA NRW from a decidedly peace-ethical perspective. Public debates on these armed conflicts have so far been dominated primarily by security policy considerations. The logic behind this may be understandable, but there is a risk that a well-founded peace ethics perspective will be overlooked.

Bishop Dr. Franz-Josef Overbeck, Prof. Dr. Jochen Sautermeister (University of Bonn) and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schlie (CASSIS, University of Bonn) contributed impulses to this dialog forum. They were joined in the discussion by the political scientist Priv.-Doz. Dr. Evelyn Bokler-Völkel, Dr. Martin Barth (Secretary General of the Görres Society), Military Vicar General Msgr. Reinhold Bartmann, Prof. Dr. Thomas R. Elßner from the Catholic Military Bishop’s Office in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Hans-Georg Soeffner (FIW University of Bonn, KWI Essen), Military Dean Heinrich Peter Treier and the AI entrepreneur Gregory Tutton.
