Event Report: Social Media Communication in Science and University Marketing

Science does not only take place in the famous ivory tower, but scientific findings and technologies often have a direct impact on everyday life. Therefore, good communication is essential for modern science. Only clear and unambiguous communication enables the general public to better understand complex topics so that people can make informed decisions. This applies to virtually all areas of knowledge. Social media in particular offer excellent opportunities here, but must also be used in a targeted, addressee-oriented and meaningful way.

In this workshop, Philip Dunkhase introduced the opportunities and limits of the possibilities associated with this area. He advised communication managers on how they can improve their social media strategies in a targeted and practical way. With the help of practical exercises on target group analysis and practical content creation with tools such as CANVA, participants were offered valuable insights and applicable strategies for their social media work. The workshop was also used for networking and exchanging experiences.
