On October 10, the Academy was visited by Dr Ranjana Kaul, Partner at Dua Associates, Law Offices, New Delhi, India and Dr Nayoung Youn, Senior Researcher in the Policy Team of the Korean Aerospace Research Institute. These two Asian legal experts on the subject of space policy and the rule of law are currently on a delegation trip to Europe organized by Olivia Schlouch and Stefan Samse from Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
Together with the Fellows they exchanged views on their research activities and pressing issues of space law over coffee and cake. From an Asian perspective, the question was rised, why the countries of Europe, if they already have an institution such as the ESA, do not work together even more and better strategically. Another general topic was the speed at which digital and technological developments are advancing and the new challenges this poses for space law. The discussion finally focused on the general tension between legally binding and soft law instruments.
